Housing Assessment Program (HAP)

The Housing Assessment Program (HAP) is Kent County’s central intake for persons who are currently homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness.

HAP provides a consistent assessment and referrals to available housing resources in the community, as programs’ eligibility and availability allows.

To complete an assessment call 616.454.5840 & select option 2 or come in during walk-in hours Wednesday 11-3:30pm at 1120 Monroe Suite 250.

Please have the following information available to complete an assessment:

  • Last 4 digits of Social Security Number for all household members
  • Documentation of homelessness

The Housing Assessment Program is open weekdays from 8:30-noon and 1:00pm-4:30pm. Walk-in hours are Wednesday from 11-3:30pm.

Housing Support Services

The Salvation Army Social Services also provides short-term support for persons through Housing Resource Specialists. These specialists provide consistent service in helping households to maintain or find housing using a community-driven, strength-based, case-management model. These programs receive all their referrals through HAP.
